Yes — Sparklike Handheld™ can measure through laminated glass, but only under certain conditions.
Here’s what you need to know for a successful measurement:
- The laminated glass should be thin, typically 1 or 2 interlayers of 0.38 mm each
- Ideal total glass thickness: 3+3 mm or 4+4 mm with one interlayer
- Higher gas fill rates improve spark penetration through laminated glass
- Always measure next to the spacer, as recommended for best accuracy
- The spark must be visible during the measurement — this remains a key requirement
Sparklike Handheld™ uses non-invasive Spark Emission Spectroscopy to verify gas fill without damaging the IGU, making it possible to check gas concentration even in certain laminated constructions.
Note: Laminated units that exceed the recommended thickness or have multiple interlayers may not yield reliable results. If in doubt, contact Sparklike support for guidance.
